Located on the South-Western coast of Finland along good traffic connections, Turku is the oldest city in Finland and the administrative and economic centre of the Finland Proper region with an active cultural offering. The population of the Turku region is approximately 320,000.
From Europe, Turku can most conveniently be reached by air or on a ferry from Stockholm, Sweden. Within Finland, Turku is easy to reach: it is a couple of hours’ bus or train fare from Tampere and Helsinki and a couple of hours’ flight from Oulu. From Russia, you can drive to Turku along the E18 highway or come by train via Helsinki.
Turku has well-functioning internal public transport services.
